This functionality provides a convenient way to keep friends and family informed about key moments, score changes, or significant plays during a game.

SportsCast Baseball specifically facilitates the selective dissemination of pre-formatted text messages that detail ongoing events in the game. The application's user interface is designed to be intuitive, enabling quick updates of runners on base, current score, outs, team names, and personalized messages such as “JJ HIT A GRAND SLAM!!” with minimal effort.

In addition to messaging capabilities, SportsCast Baseball incorporates a pitch counter feature, enhancing its utility for more detailed game tracking.

Users have full control over when and to whom updates are sent. The app supports creating groups—such as “Mom and Dad”—by selecting contacts from the iPhone address book or manually entering new contacts. This setup allows for real-time play-by-play updates to multiple recipients simultaneously, making it especially useful for parents, grandparents, or those attending different games.

The free version of the app includes the ability to manage two groups and one SMS recipient per group. All versions also support posting updates to Twitter and Facebook, expanding sharing options.

Additionally, the app now features an Action Photo Camera, which enables users to capture in-game photos and send them directly to their group via SMS. These images are automatically overlaid with an ESPN-style scoreboard indicating the current score, inning, outs, and bases—adding a dynamic visual element to live updates. This feature is available as a $1.99 in-app purchase.
